Changed traffic conditions will be in place on Newcastle Road at the Jesmond Interchange from Sunday 2 March to Tuesday 11 March.

Work will be carried out at night between 7pm and 5am.

During this time intermittent single lane closures will be in place on the westbound lanes for Newcastle Road, and intermittent single lane closures on the Newcastle Inner City Bypass. Detours of up to 2.5 km will be in place.

B-double's, vehicles of wide loads (up to 4.5m wide) and under 5.9m height clearance are permitted to travel through the intersection on Newcastle Road, Jesmond.

Operators of oversize and/or overmass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2m or with overall width wider than 4.5m are advised to contact the project team at least one day ahead of movement on 1800 818 433. Significant delays can occur through failure to make prior contact.

Eastbound motorists detoured north via the slip lane onto the Newcastle Inner City Bypass to U-turn at the University Drive roundabout.

Westbound motorists travelling north onto the bypass will be detoured further west to U-turn at the Thomas Street roundabout, Wallsend.

The detour may add up to 10 minutes to travel times.

Changed traffic conditions will be in place Sunday to Thursday nights between 7pm and 5am as part of the Hexham Straight Widening project.

Overnight lane closures and a temporary reduced speed of 40km/h will be in place on inbound and outbound lanes of Maitland Road from Old Maitland Road (West) to north of Hexham Bridge Monday 3 to Tuesday 4 March. There will be a ‘blackout’ to traffic lights on Maitland Road, located at the Oak intersection, and the Pacific Highway intersection exiting the Hexham Steel Bridge. 

There will be a restriction to oversize and/or overmass vehicles (OSOM) needing to travel on Maitland Road, under Hexham Bridge, and the Pacific Highway steel bridge and the Pacific Highway on ramp.

Night work will take place from Sunday 16 March with the northbound lanes of the M1 closed over three nights between 7:30pm and 4:30am. Detours will be in place. Motorists are advised to allow approximately 10 minutes of additional travel time.

During this work, access for emergency vehicles will be maintained. Southbound lanes will remain open.

A detour will be in place for all northbound motorists via the Hunter Expressway and John Renshaw Drive. The detour is expected to add around 10 kilometres to journeys, which is about 10 to 15 minutes travel time.

Longworth Avenue will be closed NORTHBOUND between Cowper Street and Newcastle Road from 22 February 2025 for a duration of 18 months.

John Street, between Longworth Avenue and Lumsden Lane will also be closed both directions for the duration.
